Michael and I have been getting lots of questions about Noah and his ears! I thought I would answer some of those questions here. If you want to ask me anything, or want to call us out, feel free to leave a comment!
If you have seen Noah in the last week, you know he got his ears pierced. We had no idea that people would be so surprised by that. Honestly, I'm not really sure what the big deal is. However, I really want to set the record straight and address those concerns.
Question #1: "Weren't you upset? I bet you two were really angry!"
Answer: No. We weren't upset or angry. Noah asked us if it was ok, and we asked him to wait until after high school graduation. We knew he was going to do it, and we knew when.
Question #2: "Why would you let him do something like that? That's crazy!"
Answer: We just don't think it is a big deal. Noah is old enough to make that decision. He is the exact same Noah as he was before he got the piercings. We decided a long time ago that piercings and the way they wear their hair are personal choices and they don't matter.
Question #3: "So what's he going to do next to top that?"
Answer: Honestly, I don't even know what to say to that. I got my ear cartilage pierced a year and a half ago, and I haven't pierced anything since. Noah is not trying to be outrageous or top anything. If you know him, he is an awesome young man. He is just an awesome young man with earrings.
Again, I am kind of surprised by the responses. We have raised one daughter, and no one cared if she colored or cut her hair, or pierced her ears or belly button. There is no difference!

Noah can totally pull it off. :) Although, he suddenly looks SO old to me! But, I think that has more to do with him being 18, graduating from highschool, and heading off for college soon. *sniff*sniff*
:)
I know you know this....but I will say it again - I love you! You are such a blessing!
Not to mention Micah got his ears pierced too after high school and it wasn't a big deal. Then he pierced his eyebrow (which I never saw). Then he did get a tattoo...so maybe there are some more things to do. But who cares, because they are the same amazing men (and yes Noah is a man, well soon he will be once he can grow a beard).
I've never been one to share my opinion....haha okay that's total bologna! But here it is: Many people have perceptions of people who have tattoos or piercings. I learned early not to judge that. As long as you love the Lord and bear fruit, those things just aren't deal breakers. There was a guy I knew in college that told me he thought girls who had belly button rings were kind of promiscuous (of course he had no idea he was talking to a girl with a belly button ring.) Needless to say, I confronted it, told him I had one, and he ate his words. He knew me well enough to know I was no such girl. Hey, 4 of us decided one day we'd go pierce it. Worst case scenario...we eventually take it out. Now I no longer have one. I am the same Meredyth. Noah, I'd venture to say, is the same Noah.
Go mom!
